pesco-vegetarian challenge: day one

Lately some of my best friends have stopped eating meat and have become vegetarians.  To clarify, Pam is a true vegetarian whereas Jessica and Lea are pesco-vegetarian.  Pescetarianism is a vegetarian diet that includes fish.  At first I wasn't ready to jump on the non-meat train, but now I'm starting to become inspired to do so.

I am a chicken-lover, a yard bird fan if you will.  That is going to be my biggest struggle in this veggie-only challenge.  Chicken is so easy to find, so easy to make, so easy to eat.  Its really the only meat I eat and my number one source of protein.  I also enjoy a good sausage whether it be chicken or turkey sausage.  How can I replace my favorite trader joe's chicken and jalepeno sausage?  These make some of my best dinners during the week!

Well, I'm going to find a way to replace these things.  I'll have to be creative and get my veggie juices flowing.  Does anyone want to join me in the veggie challenge?  Please, hop aboard the meatless train!  Our final destination is to feel healthier and realize you don't need to eat meat.  You can survive on things that grow from trees and in the ground.

Vegetarian lifestyle here I come?

Light Leaks Magazine: Polaroid Submission

Light Leaks Magazine is a photography publication dedicated to low-fi and toy camera photography.  It showcases work by photographers using Polaroid, Holga, Diana, and other plastic fantastic cameras.

I have submitted one of my Polaroid images to their call for entries for next month's issue.  It is a theme called Polaroid: Your Last Best Shot.  All submissions should be a Polaroid image taken with Polaroid camera on Polaroid film.  I can't wait to see what this issue will look like once the Light Leaks staff decides on the winning submissions to publish.  Every issue has  amazing work.  I also enjoy the photo editor's work.  You can see her website here.

If you're a diehard Polaroid fanatic like me, you won't want to miss this issue.

I'm going to the Landing. . . .

Thai Landing is my favorite Thai restaurant in Charm City.  In my opinion, it is the best Thai food in Baltimore.  If you want to experience fresh ingredients, amazing flavor, a warm and friendly environment, and the spiciest Thai cuisine around town, then this is the place to go.  And here's the best thing, a big dinner for two with drinks is under $60.

Thai Landing's atmosphere is relaxed and simple.  Although some may find the decor to be less than luxurious, the people working there are what make this restaurant worth going to over and over again.  Charlie is a very knowledgeable man.  He grows his own hydroponic chilis and shares stories and information about Thailand and its food with me all the time.  Mo and Karn are my favorite waiters.  Pam is the head lady and hostess.  And "A" heads the kitchen and makes the best damn Panang sauce you've ever had in your life!  He also has a great sense of humor and shares a passion for photography.

At this point I would consider the people at Thai Landing my friends.  I have been going there for the past 2 years now.  I would encourage everyone to give it a try, and if you need any suggestions, just call me up and I'll tell you what to order!

Dear Readers,

I'm sorry I've neglected my blog for some time now!  I am full of new stories, photos, ideas, and information.  I will be updating, revealing, and inspiring you all very soon.  I got a couple things up my sleeve. . .all I have to do now is find the time to sit down, type, and share.  Thanks for being so patient!  April

7 1/2 Inches Later. . .

This morning I went to Lluminaire Salon in Towson and Hairstylist Mario cut 7 1/2 inches off my hair!  I absolutely love my new look.  This is the best thing I have done for myself in a long, long time.  This is the first time in 15 years that I've had bangs and the shortest my hair has ever been.

Watch out world . . . here comes me and my new do!
